May 30 The Village

On the way to the village, Carl decided to stop at the grocery store in Pivka and the first person we met was his cousin Cveto. Before we knew it we were sitting down at the local bar having a beer and a tea and I was showing him pictures from last Christmas. We had decided earlier to skip Ljubljana since it was raining buckets when we drove through. At the B&B amazingly, the owner immediately recognized Carl from last year and we reserved a room. We then set off to do the rounds stopping at Stan's house (Grampa's half brother). He is not doing so well, having just released from the hospital where he had been for 40 days with heart issues. Never the less he brought out thr proscuitto and some cheese and some cookies trying his best to be a good host. I was repeatedly hugged before we moved on. Rude (Carl's cousin) was at home so we stopped in here next for a chat and some refreshments. Mostly I listened here since Rude does not know even one word of English. He told us to visit Tatiana and Slovko next so, we did. We met their three children and the youngest one, Nick, thought I was pretty funny and he kept giggling at me. More refreshments were had. Since it was getting late and dark we headed back to our B&B where we got hauled into the breakfast room to try some home made honey liquor and red wine. Guess who drank what! The liquor was good and so ended our 32nd anniversary.
